For my senior project, I volunteered at the Rhode Island Blood Center as a refreshments volunteer. I handed out snacks and drinks to donors, monitored them for negative side effects, and sanitized any high traffic areas. I am also filming a short vlog style video of me donating blood to encourage teens in our community to do the same!
I am fortunate enough to have the opportunity to currently be in the process of planning an in school drive here at BHS in the spring. My mentor is an account manager at the Rhode Island Blood Center.

For my Senior Project I worked with Good Neighbors Soup Kitchen to create video content for a virtual auction fundraiser they were holding in the fall. The fundraiser brought in over $10,000 and the videos I created were streamed live to members of the community. My fieldwork involved filming kitchen operations, interviewing clients and volunteers, and helping to plan the virtual fundraiser. Through this work I learned the crucial role local community food banks like Good Neighbors have played in supporting a growing population of those experiencing food insecurity throughout the pandemic.

My senior project is being done with the Wildlife Rehabilitation Association of RI. I took a six hour educational course, and when I turn 18 I will get my wildlife rehabilitation subpermittee licence. After that, I will be able to do hands-on work feeding and caring for orphaned mammals.
This process is more involved than most people think, but being able to work with the Wildlife Rehabilitation Association has been a great experience and it has taught me so much.

I chose to cover a song, Lost Boy by Ruth B, and to record a before and after video to showcase the improvements I made over time. I only gave myself a week or so of practice when I recorded my before video of singing the song. My mentor then taught me some singing techniques, and we went over stage presence. In order to get a minimum of 20 hours, I practiced singing nearly every day and rehearsed the lyrics to the song, and practiced singing and learning the song. I challenged myself to cover this song as it is sung in a lower range, and I am a soprano. Over time I saw just how much I improved singing Lost Boy as I recorded myself singing the song with the artist singing in the background.
